What to see in Vienna in 1 day?
If you came to the city for the first time, then it will be interesting for you to make a study trip on a sightseeing tram. The tram runs along the Ringstrasse and makes 13 stops in half an hour. You can see the buildings of the Town Hall, Parliament, Vienna State Opera and other sights of Vienna. The ticket costs 9 euros.
Stephansplatz
It is better to start an independent walking tour from the historic center of Vienna - Stephansplatz Square and St. Stephen's Cathedral. There are two observation platforms in the cathedral - in the South and North towers. They can be visited from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm using the stairs or the elevator. Near the North Tower there is a descent into the catacombs - the burial place of the Habsburgs.
House of Mozart
Go around the Stephansplatz square on the left and go to Domgasse Street 5. Find a yellow house - here Mozart lived and worked for almost 3 years. The entrance fee to the museum is 9 euros.
Graben and Kohlmarkt
After Stephansplatz, walk to Stock im Eisen, and from there, turn onto Graben. There, admire the shops, restaurants and fountains, the 17th century monument - the Plague Column. Go a little further, take the Kohlmarkt street. In the Middle Ages, a firewood and coal market functioned here, now it is a place where expensive shops of the Austrian capital are concentrated.
Hofburg
The former imperial residence of the Hofburg at Michaelerplatz is definitely worth a visit in Vienna. There you will see the imperial rooms, the treasury and the royal stables. If you don't feel like exploring the palace, just take a walk in the park. You can reach the Hofburg along the Kohlmarkt street. The palace is open from 9:00 to 17:30, the full ticket price is 15 euros.
Town hall
Maria Theresa Square is located across the street from the Hofburg. In its center there is a monument to the Empress, next to it there are two museums. If you walk a little further north, you will see the building of the Austrian Parliament and the City Hall. There is a small English park next to the Town Hall. In winter, Vienna's largest fair with an ice rink is open here. The Town Hall building is especially beautiful in the evening when the lights are turned on.
What to see in Vienna in 2 days?
Gazebo
On the 2nd day in Vienna, we advise you to visit the Belvedere palace complex. It is located on a hill from where you can see St. Stephen's Cathedral and the city. The complex is divided into the Lower and Upper Belvedere. The upper palace houses the national gallery, while the lower one houses the residential apartments and stables, which have preserved the original furnishings. Open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, admission to the park is free, only visits to the palaces are paid. A ticket costs between 11 and 19 euros.
Museum quarter
Art lovers are advised to look at the expositions in museums in Vienna. In the very center of the city, across the street from the Hofburg, there is the Museum Quarter. This is the name of the territory of the former imperial stables, now occupied by museums and antiques and shops.
The most popular are Mumok (Ludwig's Museum of Contemporary Art) and the Leopold Museum with a complete collection of Austrian modernists. Both museums are open from 10:00 to 19:00, the ticket costs 9-10 euros. The Kunsthalle exposition is dedicated to contemporary art and is available to visitors from 11:00 to 19:00.
Having seen enough of the works of art, you can immediately relax, have a cup of coffee, and discuss what you have seen. There are restaurants and cafes in the Museum Quarter, it is nice to just walk here without visiting museums.
What to see in Vienna in 3 days?
Schonbrunn Palace
On your third day in Vienna, see the emperor's luxurious summer residence, Schönbrunn. It is worth taking at least 4 hours for it, and better - the whole day. It is very beautiful here in the warm season, in winter everything looks a little dull and monotonous. The territory is huge: 40 rooms open to the public, a palm house, a greenhouse and a pavilion. There is a beautiful park and a zoo on the territory of the residence. At the court bakery, you can taste apple strudel, made according to an old recipe.
The classic tour costs 24 euros, it includes a tour of the palace, garden and colonnade, as well as a walk through the labyrinth and in the greenhouse. It is convenient to get to the place by metro on the U4 line, the station is called Schönbrunn.
Prater
It is a large, shady park with attractions and activities. A mini-railway was laid around the park, along which you can go around the entire territory of the park. Most of the Prater is green, with trees, paths, benches and picnic areas. In the northern part there is a large amusement park, of which there are more than 250. The park is always open, admission is free, rides cost an average of 3-5 euros.
