How to get to Koh Lan, which beach is the best, and what is the price? Our review and review with photos and videos.

Koh Lan Island (Pattaya) is a place of beach idyll, inaccessible in the city itself. Here everything is from the category of "bounty": the sand is snow-white, the water is azure-transparent, palm trees are present. It is located only 9 km by sea from land, and therefore its beaches were chosen by tourists from Pattaya and indigenous Thais.

By the way, Thailand in 2021 costs from 70,000 rubles for two! It is better to look for inexpensive vouchers on your own using the services:

  • Travelata
  • Level.Travel
  • Onlinetours

They monitor tours of all tour operators at once and give out the most advantageous offers.

How to get to Ko Lahn island?

The sights of Pattaya are certainly entertaining, but sooner or later there will be an acute shortage of a truly beach holiday by the clear sea. It's easy to get (or rather, swim) to Koh Lan Island, and don't even think about ordering an organized excursion!

Nice view of the bays of Koh Lana (to see them you need to take a bike)
All boats / ferries depart from Bali Hai Pier located at the end of Walking Street. How to get to Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya? If the hotel is not within walking distance from the point, with a wave of your hand on the way, stop the songteo - a la local tuk-tuk - say the name of the pier to the driver with an interrogative intonation, and, in case of a nod, sit down. At the exit from you - 10 baht per person.

To navigate Pattaya, or just any city in the world, we highly recommend the maps.me offline maps application.

Further, there are two options for the development of events:

  1. The most budgetary is the ferry to Koh Lan. Old, creaking, noisy, crowded, but the cost is 30 baht per person one way 🙂

Where do they arrive: Tawaen pier or Naban pier - 2 different directions, the first is more convenient.
Schedule: from 7:00 and every hour, back from 13:00
Travel time: 45-50 minutes

  1. Boat. Accommodates 10 people, cost - 150 baht round trip

Where do they arrive: Samae beach
Schedule: from 9:30 every hour
Travel time: 35 minutes.

The beaches of Koh Lan

The island's map has 5 large public beaches, all of which are full of tourists. Relative solitude can be caught for a short while if you set sail on the very first ferry.

In general, information has reached us that Ko Lan itself is a private territory, and, for example, sunbathing on the sand on your towel, so to speak, is against the rules - you have to take a lounger. We did not come across such a thing, we lay free on the sand, but just in case we warn you.

Infrastructure everywhere, more or less, however, is paid. For washing hands, enterprising locals will charge 10 baht! Transport on the island is well developed: bikes, motorcycle taxis and songteo.

And one more remark: on Ko Lana, you may feel that you have left not for a Thai resort, but for our good old Black Sea. A LOT of Russians 🙂

  • The most popular and largest beach on the island of Ko Lan - Tawaen (Tawaen) - stretches 680 m along the coast. From the name you can guess that it is located near the pier. Surprisingly, even here the water is frankly blue, and, compared to Pattaya, just paradise! Although there are a lot of traders, bikes and tourists, creating a hustle and bustle. The Chinese are especially trying. Squeal like children and crowd by the shore. But, overall, not a bad place for a beach holiday if you don't want to go to distant beaches.
  • The list of the best beaches includes Samae. It takes about 15 minutes from Tawaen by bike. A picturesque location, huge boulders near the coast, of which you can take credit photos in the spray of the sea and an observation deck. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. The "guards" behind the sunbeds are a little arrogant here and sometimes they demand to take at least two.
  • We liked Tien beach the most. It seemed that here it is a little cleaner, more spacious and fewer Chinese 🙂 There are fish swimming in the sea, large multicolored and small flocks, so take a mask - it will come in handy. Entering the water is long, at the beginning you can feel large pebbles, but then - an ideal sandy bottom. And no less perfect view of the toes, even when it has already gone up to the neck.

White sand and clear blue sea reminiscent of the Maldives

  • Nuan, or Monkey Beach, is the closest to Nabaan pier. The name says it all - there is a mini-kingdom of monkeys, and each copy is surrounded by a curious crowd with cameras. There is also a rope swing - another spot for Instagram. On the way from the pier to the beach, there are whole fields of ears of indeterminate species, in which you can get lost 🙂

  • On the map of the beaches of Koh Lan, there are also small, but very cozy places, such as Ta-Yai (Ta-Yai). There are no hotels and restaurants, but there is very beautiful nature and the cleanest coastline.

Koh Lan prices

Sun beds: stand in groups in three horizontal rows. The usual cost for them: the first, at the very edge of the water (carefully, the slippers can take away :)) - 150 baht, the second - 100 baht, the third - 50 baht. On our second visit to the island, the price tag was unreasonably raised by 50 baht, and we basically sunbathed just on a towel.

Bike rental: standard 300 baht. Haggle! We ended up knocking it out for 250 baht. Deposit - passport or 1000 baht.

Moto-taxi: from 50 baht

Songteo: from 30 baht

1 night at the hotel: from 1250 rubles

What to do on the island?

Coral Island (Ko Lan) is the largest of the closest ones to Pattaya (dimensions: 2 km wide and 4 km long). There are a modest number of attractions here, because the main thing for which tourists flock is the sea. But even those few are worthy of attention.

  • Buddha statue at an altitude of 205 m above sea level next to the observation deck near Tawaen beach
  • Wat Maisam Larn next to Na Baan pier
  • Viewpoint at Samae Beach

Where to stay in Pattaya?

What is the principle of choosing hotels in Pattaya? Based on the reviews of tourists and our impressions:

  • In the North of Pattaya, it is quite quiet and calm, most of the hotels are located on the first line. However, we do not recommend sunbathing and swimming on the local beaches. An alternative is the hotel pool. Walking Street can be reached by a local tuk-tuk in 10-15 minutes.
  • The southern part of the city is also calm, there are many budget hotels. You can drive to the Center in 10 minutes.
  • The central part is a favorite place for young people and old people waddling arm in arm with secrets. Restaurants and nightclubs, beaches with rats and sewage. But from here you can walk to Bali Hai pier in 20 minutes and go to the beaches of Koh Lan.
